Things to do in Letamo
As there are no dangerous predators on the farm, residents can wander around freely. The farm has two hippos – but they only roam at night. And although no resident has ever been harmed by one, the farm doesn’t allow people to walk around on the farm after sunset or before sunrise.

Our History
Letamo Game Farm was established in 1998, and its residential development started in July 2001. The developers’ vision at that time was that anyone with a passion for South Africa’s bushveld, wildlife, and nature should be able to live on a game farm. More specifically, the farm’s closeness to Johannesburg allowed the developers to position the farm’s offering as “work in town / the city, but live on a game farm”.
The incredible boom in developments over the last 15+ years means that the farm is now a mere nine minutes from Cradlestone Mall; it is close to a number of schools; it is 10 minutes from Silverstar Casino, and only eight minutes from Netcare Pinehaven Hospital.
In a recent update on the continued expansion of the planned Gautrain routes, a line has been proposed from Lanseria, through the Cradle, Cosmo, and Randburg, and ending in Sandton. However, the farm’s location in the Cradle means that not much more development may take place immediately around the farm, and so it is likely that in the future the farm will be a tranquil haven in the midst of other urban developments.
